Leadership Development...

Leadership skills are valued in every size and type of business. Adventure Sports operates Leadership Development sessions to allow these treasured skills to be learned and improved.

The itinerary below describes a typical leader training day for a group of 24 guests.

Itinerary

8.30 AM Guests arrive at Wedgnock Rifle Range, Warwick. Tea / coffee is served and an initial briefing will be given to explain the format for the day.

8.40 AM The day will start with a short theory session regarding leadership techniques and how they can be implemented. The guests will then be divided into teams of between five and seven people.

9.30 AM Experienced instructors will be introduced to each team. They will explain the basics of map reading (use of map, compass and grid references) to allow each team to find each of their six activities during the day.

9.40 AM One person from each team will be nominated as team leader for the first exercise. They will be given a grid reference detailing the position of the first activity. The leader must organise their team and get them to the location.

(Wedgnock covers over 90 acres of Warwickshire countryside - so careful navigation will allow each team to find their first activity quickly - leaving more time to complete the problem solving exercise).

9.50 AM After a short walk each team will arrive at their first activity. The team leader will be briefed on the objectives of the exercise by the instructor. They then lead the team through the exercise until complete.

10.30 AM After the exercise is complete the instructor will lead the team through a short debrief session where all the team members can give feedback to the leader regarding leadership style and technique.

The emphasis for these feedback sessions is always on honesty and openness to allow genuine, meaningful comments to be considered.

10.40 AM Following the feedback a different leader will be selected for the second exercise, followed by a third.

12.40 PM Teams return to the Clubhouse for lunch.

1.30 PM A further three exercises will take place during the afternoon ensuring each team member has a turn at leading the team.

4.30 PM Teams meet up in the Clubhouse for a short summary of the day to allow key learning points to be discussed and shared with the group.

5.00 PM Guests depart.

A wide variety of exercises can be incorporated into a leadership development day. Adventure Sports will advise on suitable exercises depending on weather conditions, age mixture of the group and numbers of guests.
